But the joyous paintings that made my mother, Laurel Burch, an internationally renowned designer are just the surface of a rich tapestry that reveals a story of healing, heartbreak, daring risks, wild success, and inspiration beyond measure.
Her paintings lead us on a journey of rich color, texture, and adventure as it mirrored her life traveling to distant lands with an insatiable thirst for sights and sounds unknown.
Through 40 years of intimate letters, film, and photographs my mother and I captured our lives as individual artists, collaborators, and family. As a disabled artist, world traveler, connector of people, lover of animals, free spirited woman and single mother, the power of Laurel's life story to bring visibility and inspiration has never been more needed by the world than it is today. This film unfolds the secret inner life and wild dreams of Laurel Burch, my friend, my inspiration, and my mother.
